Interestingly Jesus was faced with a similar situation; If you will
recall in the book of matthew at chapter 27starting in verse 11..
Jesus was standing before (Pilate)and in(12) :"But, while he was
being accused by the chief priests and older men,he MADE NO
ANSWER(13)Then pilate said to him: "Do you not hear how many
things they are testifying againist you?"(14)Yet he did not answer
him,NO,Not a word,So the governor wondered very much."So, if
sometimes the answer is one that people do not WANT to hear
and you know it is useless to answer at all.Why not follow Jesus
example and not speak at all?

Sometimes. You are not obliged to say everything you think, and your are under no obligation, ethically, to answer every question you are asked. Many things are just none of anybody's business.
Someone might say he is convinced of something that I think is absolutely ridiculous. I might not think it is really worth arguing with him. Even if he goes away thinking my silence implied agreement, I have not lied. He is just foolishly jumping to conclusions.
On the other hand, silence sometimes does deliberately communicate a falsehood. For instance if I am in a room full of people, and somebody in authority asks: 'Who is a Canadian here?' or 'Who is a Christian here?' And if I don't speak up, (even if it is just by raising my hand) I am communicating a falsehood. I am allowing people to believe that I do not fall into the category mentioned.

Not telling anything, instead of telling the truth is also like lying but without saying anything.

Someone would have to be a total idiot to call you a liar for remaining silent. They would have to be angry at themselves for not being able to interpret your silence as "the least desirable possibility", and taking their anger out on you!

Hmmmmmmm. :-)
Seriously? I have a standard that I call entitlement. If the recipient of the information that I am withholding is entitled to that information, then in good conscience, I am obligated to provide it IF QUESTIONED. If I withhold, then under these circumstances, my silence is the same as a spoken lie.

If you know the truth but do not speak itinstead of lying, you still have lied by omission.
