This is just off the top of my head, but here goes...

Head across Ottawa to Detroit
Take I-94 to Chicago
At Chicago, head south on I-55 to Memphis
Take I-40 over to Dallas
South on I-35 to Laredo

From Nuevo Laredo go to Monterrey
South on Mexico 57 through Queretaro to Mexico City
From Mexico City, take Mexico 95 to Acapulco

For specific directions, go to Mapquest. It's very good from travel in the US and Canada. Microsoft Streets and Trips includes Mexico as well - an excellent program for planning a trip.

Hey, you can figure the distance from your front door to where you want to cross. I like driving down I-35 and crossing at Laredo, early in the morning, heading south west to Zacatacas, spend the night there and make my way into Puerto Vallarta the next day. Take 200 south and stop in Melaque or Barra de Navidad for a couple days, you'll find many a maple leaf flying from the tops of cars... Continue south to Manzanillo for a few days. Drive south to Zihuatanejo, great place to catch your breath, be sure to visit La Ropa beach...... Your destination is only a few hours south from here. Enjoy the drive. There are many other ways to get there on the toll roads but I love the ocean and all the towns along the west coast.

Check out this site for distances between towns in Mexico.

Actually I'm not sure on how many km's there are. But I live in Acapulco at Rinconada del Mar and have lots... believe me, LOTS of Canadian neighboors and we love them.

So... be very welcome to Acapulco!

P.S. I asked a neighboor how much time he took to arrive here (they always come by car) and told me that's 5 days.
