I bought a 2 pack from Kmart to test. I am 9 days shy of missing my 2nd period (so i would be 6wks along). Both tests I took, within 10 minutes, had a faint blue line. Easily seen but not as dark as I expected. The first test was taken mid-day and then second one was taken first thing in the morning. Has anyone else taken this brand of test? I hear that a line is a line and its a possitive. I want to believe but I dont want to end up heart broken. I plan on buying a First Responce test tonight and trying it in the morning.

YEP A LINE IS A LINE. YOU DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH HCG IN YOUR SYSTEM SO THAT IS WHY IT IS SHOWING UP FAINT. BUT YOU ARE PG SCHEDULE AN APPT WITH YOUR DR.

Most of the time a positive result will show up within a minute or right away.
No matter how dark the line is or not... I took a wal-mart brand (answer) and also clearblue easy 7 days before my period was due and both showed up positive and i took them at night. The answer one was a dark dark positive line while the clearblue one was there but faint/light.

What's the best test to use? This seems to change periodically! Some tests are well-liked and then a "bad batch" comes out, and some tests are known for being duds but then switch manufacturers and redeem themselves. See the HPT Overview section for current comments on each brand.

If you are trying to detect a pregnancy 13 DPO or earlier, you probably want to use a more sensitive brand. Anything that detects 25 mIU/mL of hCG (English: anything that detects a tiny bit of pregnancy hormone) is good for early testing. See the HPT Overview section to see which tests are most sensitive and the HPT Showdown for a real-life comparison of 15 brands.

Surprisingly, cheap tests purchased at dollar stores or on the Internet are often more sensitive and reliable than expensive store brands. HPT's are like soda: very cheap to make, and marked up quite a bit for retail.

First response is just more costly. people thinks that all the generic, cheaper tests are lying about the results when in fact people want to believe something that is cheap doesn't work.

A real positive is identified by its color (pink or blue, whatever the color of the test's dye is) and its appearance within 10 minutes of urinating on the stick. A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid.

The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

Good luck

i bought the 2 pack generic brand too a faint line is a positive line and if you are pregnant it probably would of should up right away not in the 3 minutes the box says to wait especially being that far along.
also you would be further then 6 weeks along they count pregnancy from the 1st day off your last period

You are prgnant, a line is a line no matter how dark it is. I had the same thing happen with my 1st the line was faint, then the next week it was dark. It depends how far along you are, you have different amounts of the pregnancy hormone the further along you get, the more hormone you have, the darker the line
Congrats I hope

A line is a line, how about buying a digital brand like ClearBlue Easy or EPT. It won't keep you guessing it will say Pregnant or not pregnant. The best time to test is with your first morning urine. the hormone is more concentrated at this time.

You should read the directions. Most tests tell you only to wait 3 minutes and after a certain amount of time throw it away!! So dont get your hopes up, buy another test and read the directions this time.

A line is a line. Any kind of positive test is an almost for sure positive unless you're on a medicine that puts HGC into your blood stream.

Earth, I extremely have taken that kind in the previous. i'm agreeing with a terrific majority of folk in here. you're easily pregnant. you will get a faux detrimental, yet not a faux useful. that's what my Dr. instructed me as properly. the line could be faint on the grounds which you're extremely early. in case you will sense extra delicate in waiting each and every week and taking one bypass forward, yet i could advise to bypass on your Dr. by way of fact than they are able to initiate monitoring you genuine away. each and every so often they'll prefer you to attend till at last you're 6-7 weeks pregnant, in spite of if it relies upon on your physician. Congrats!!!!
