Geography is the study of countries, cultures, and things like soil types, study of weather etc.
from wikipedia:
Geography is the study of the Earth and its features and of the distribution of life on the earth, including human life and the effects of human activity. The word geography derives from the Greek γη (ge) or γαια (gaia) ("Earth") and γραφειν (graphein) ("to describe"). Physical geography focuses on Earth science (and is sometimes called Earth System Science). This provides an understanding of the physical, meteorological and ecological patterns of the Earth. Human geography includes economic, political and cultural geography and focuses on the social science or the non-physical aspects of the world. It examines how human beings adapt themselves to the land and how they impact the physical world. Geographers not only study the human and natural features of the Earth but also its place in the Solar System and the Universe and how this effects the Earth features (e.g. climate, sea currents and tides).

As far as your "primary & secondary" education goes, its about where everything is. For example the arctic is at the North Pole which is at the top of the world. The best way to get the idea is buy a globe, you can get a low cost globe which is basically a beach ball with a map of the world printed on it. Just find the place where you live, and then look at where other countries and places are in relation to you. For example is France your neighbour, or on the other side of the World. When you know where everything is, then you can think a bit more about what places are like, are they mountainous like switzerland or flat like Holland.
