I have recetly discovered the libertarian party. The only thing I can find wrong with them is they do not have a large enough following to get anyone elected into office, and that doesn't seem wrong enough to void my vote. I am seriously thinking about joining the libertarian party. They make so much better sense that either dems or reps. Please, before I make this decision, give me any and all information on why I shouldn't join, because I want to know from all angles what they are about.

The Libertarian party is the only liberal party in America. Liberalism is a good philosophy. But like anything else, too much of a good thing is bad.
If the Libertarian party by some miracle ever did everything on their platform, the world would be in total chaos. I mean come on, no control on anything. No government supported infrastructure. No parks. No public beaches. You want to parcel out Yellowstone to private ownership. You want to give the interstate highway system away to homesteaders, and allow people to build homes in the medians?
It's an insane platform.

I can't believe how famous I am...OK, just to reiterate, the libertarian party stands for personal freedoms (a 'liberal' ideal) personal accountability (USED to be a conservative ideal) limited government involvement in people's lives socially (liberal) and fiscally (conservative). They don't believ in laws regarding abortion, religion, drugs, etc...this is the reason MOST republicans won't vote for them. They can't stan the idea of all americans being able to live their lives without infringing on other's rights to do the same. They believe in deregulated business (why are we giving subsidies to oil companies? Subsidies are a liberal concept, yet republicans favor them for oil...hmmm...) SO there you have it. If you can stomach the possibility of a TRUELY free and conservative party, that's what it is. You can go to politicalcompass.org and take a survey that will help you identify a party that most closely resembles your beliefs. And remember, not ALL posts in government have to be libertarian. But I sure wouldn't mind if the executive post was. Find it out for yourself, and don't let anyone tell you who you are (SHIRAZ AND CO) Good luck!

Belong to any party you want but make sure they are doing the "Will of the People", because that's why there are in office!

I'm not sure how anyone can look at what's going on in our Government and decide we need more partisan politics. Maybe there should be a party for American Citizens and the politicians who want to represent them.

I intend to remain a Republican but I admit there are many positive things about the Libertarian Party. My only real gripe with them is that they are weak on national defense issues.

There is not perfect party. It has to do with what you think. If you think the libertarian party most represents your thinking, then congratulations on finding them.

All political parties are merely an ILLUSION. Bush and other presidents are all elected ONLY by THIS secret and evil group that's been in control of everything for far too long!...

don't they have a web site? I think you should belong to any party that you believe in. If it feels right to you, then that is where you should give your time, attention and donations. Best of luck.
