If you want to experience a lovely vacation, take a Carnival Carribean Cruise. You make many stops and your home follows you around which is very nice. Being an American, you need to eat the food and drink the water,( which by the way is excellent and always free, day or night) on the Ship so you don't get sick . There is nothing in the world worse than being very ill when not on American soil. Anyway, back to the best part. The Carnival Cruise lines are definitely what they say they are, The Fun Ship. I could not have spent my money better. I was able to go to the ancient walled city of Tuluum of the Mayan Indians, next stop was the Grand Cayman Islands which is famous for snorkeling and scuba diving in and around their beautiful coral reefs. Breathtaking and fun and warm, clear water. I felt like I was in heaven just snorkeling around. It was totally the most wonderful experience I have ever had. Then on to the Island I believe you would enjoy the most and that is of course, Jamaica. Remember those commercials that would have the natives saying, "Come back to Jamaica"? Well, they truly mean it. The beauty of the island, the waterfalls, the friendly native people, the smell of all the spices that grow wild, the prices of beautiful gold jewelry is out of this world. The tourism industry is this small island's life blood. They have very harsh laws for those who harm a tourist and if a tourist from a cruise ship is ever harmed, the cruise ships will stop making it one their ports of call. Those people need tourists so they are very protective of them. As a single, African American Woman, I feel you would have a really great time on a Carnival Cruise ship. Get a room on the upper deck. Then you will have a nice view out of your window. Not to mention that lifeboats are on the same deck which I believe is "E" deck. The room stewards who are always standing in your hallway, waiting for their next request, will iron your underwear if you want them to. LOL! The food was incredible. The staff is courteous and quick. They have lots of fun activities like a mens lingerie pageant. That was the funniest thing I have ever seen on a vacation. Only the manliest men entered. LOL! Everything is free with the price of your ticket (excluding alcohol and cigarettes). Room service is free day or night. You do have to tip your waiters and room steward at the end of your cruise, but it is worth it. They depend so much on your tip because they really don't make much for their regular hours. They have a tendency to give you exactly what you want or better. The service is really neat.
If you are in a great financial position, most cruise lines are very good about the care they give their passengers. If you are talking a longer trip, check out all the different cruise lines. I am a firm believer in cruise ships because it is nice to be able to run home to the same home, no matter where you are, no matter what. If anyone ever assaults you in any way, there will be hell to pay. You are treated like a Queen. I, at the young age of 18, paid my way to go to Hawaii (Oahu) for 8 days. I was the victim of hotel room key syndicates(before they had those cards you can just slide) whereas a hotel security guard forced his way into my room while I was fresh out of the shower, naked and he denied it even after I picked him out of their employee book. I was robbed of all cash I had in my room with no forced entry. I was assaulted in broad daylight while jogging, my purse was ripped off my arm by a thief. The list goes on. Being a single woman, please, if you got the cash, take a cruise. Passengers are number one when it comes to safety and security because the passenger is what makes that industry thrive. Can you afford a pardner? LOL! When are you leaving? I wanna go!!! LOL! Have fun and believe me, the safest you will be is on a cruise ship as long as you book a cabin on the same deck as the lifeboats. Another added bonus is that the water is really warm and you won't die of hypothermia if the ship does go down with you only wearing a life jacket. The reason I emphasize on a room up top is if you get motion sickness, you don't want a room with no windows and in case of sinking, you don't have to fight with a bunch of other panicked folks to get up top because you are already there. LOL!LOL! Good luck.
