What liberals mean is removing the excuses that terrorists use to justify their violence....but they call those excuses "causes" because free will is not a concept they believe in (i.e they think we all act according to our circumstances and not our desires).

When you need to clear out a hornets nest, do you hit it with a stick? Or is it perhaps wiser to take a moment to examine the situation and find a better alternative, like smoking them out? It's the rash actions of the current administration (I can't even blame republicans for him, he's gone so far away from the party platform it's nonsensical) that I would consider to be contrary to reason and good sense.

I think looking for the causes should be part of the global war on terror, but certainly not a substitute for direct action.

I don't think the Administration is blind to the need to understand the causes, but I do think the Liberals are blind to the need for more than academic study of terrorism as a social phenomenon.

I think we can rule out "midnight basketball" as a cure this time.
