Petroleum based greases can heat up and ignite...Iv'e never heard of any fires, but they do make special electrical connection grease, White lithium grease I believe...so better safe then sorry..

di-electric grease. It comes in cans for about $7 (and will last you for quite some time) or in small tubes (will last a while too--you really don't use a whole lot).

If I were you, I wouldn't use anything else.

you can get some dielectric grease at any parts store.

it's made specifically for electrical connections the may be exposed to moisture.
