It's not all bad, There are some nice place's in Glasgow, so why do people think like this, all places have bad areas not just Glasgow. Their are some lovely places in Glasgow

Glasgow's a great place and its''s certainly not all bad tho it does have areas with social problems in it just like any other city in the UK.
I'd rather walk about the streets of Glasgow alone late at night rather than some other places I could think of.
The media is more to blame for any negativity that's portrayed - for the sackful they portray rather than the handful that it really is.
That and ignorant people who tend to think its full of Ned's junkies etc; obviously haven't been there to really see what Glasgow and it's people are really like.

its a throwback to the 60's and the gang culture that was in glasgow at the time. racial stereotypes are difficult to eradicate and seem to be perpetuated in tv shows such as the bill, where every scotsman in portrayed as a hardman or a screaming drunk. some folks would be better reminded that glasgow was the european city of culture not so long ago. every city has its problems, but glasgow has really cleaned up its act in the last few years and i think the scottish parliament has helped by giving us back some pride and self esteem and national identity. so, it appears to be a myth promoted bymisguided people who have probably never set fot in the city.

It's a shame as it definitely is a very nice place. You do have to admit that there are some incredibly rough areas in Glasgow!
It was voted "European City of Culture" a couple of years ago but in recent years it has been named the murder capital of Europe so it's really not surprising people say things like this.

i think people say the same about Newcastle, but everywhere has bad places, and Glasgow has got nice places i love going

I'm sure it is lovely, but it only takes on smackhead ned to murder someone for a £10 bag and your on the front page of the paper as the worst place to live!

I LOVE GLASGOW AND PUT PEOPLE RIGHT WHEN THEY BAD MOUTH IT,EVERY CITY HAS BAD POINTS ALOT WORSE THAN GLASGOW. ITS A GREAT PLACE ,GREAT PEOPLE.ONLY WISHED I LIVED THERE.
