Look up Placenta Previa....if it gets worse they will diagnose you with this... MY friend had it and she and her son are doing great. She did have a C-Section however. Hers did move up and she was induced and after 30 hours of labor had a C. You may be advised to abstain from sex. Bed rest is possible. This does not hurt the baby in any way.

I had a low placenta at 20 weeks, and at 29 weeks was diagnosed with placenta previa. I was told to abstain from intercourse, avoid lifting heavy items and try to lay down a lot when possible. There's nothing you can do really. You just have to hope that as your uterus gets bigger it will pull the placenta upwards away from your cervix, so that it wont cause problems. Luckily mine resolved by 36 weeks and I had a vaginal birth. Watch for any bleeding. If you start bleeding call your doctor right away. You are at risk for a placenta abruption. You didn't say how far along you are, but if you are in your first or second trimester it's not placenta previa yet. That's only diagnosed in the 3rd trimester. Still, over 90% of low lying placenta's resolve before 36 weeks. Good luck.

This is called placenta previa. In majority of the case, the placenta will move higher later in pregnancy. This condition does not affect the baby, only complication during labor. If it does not move higher in your last month, you have to have a c-section.
The low-sitting placenta may cause you to bleed during pregnancy, thus nothing aggrrevating it, like sex, lifiting. You don't need to be on bedrest. It maybe necessary if it doesn't move higher towards the end, but your doctor can tell you then.

The risk factors for a low lying placenta usually include smoking, previous c/s, or previous abdominal surgery. That isn't to say that it can't happen for no reason at all. You need to refrain from intercourse until you find out whether the problem has resolved or not. If you have any bleeding at all, please go to labor and delivery as soon as possible. You will not need to have a c/s unless the low lying placenta is still there. Hope this helps!
Women diagnosed with placenta previa are often placed on modified bed rest and pelvic rest (no sexual intercourse or orgasm). If the placenta previa persists at term, or if there is heavy bleeding, a cesarean section is needed.
Please discuss your concerns with your health care provider as soon as possible.

Depends on how low it is. The low lying placenta will usually move upward as the uterus grows. Not so with the placenta that is totally covering the cervix or bottom of the uterus. Heavy lifting should be avoided anyway.

i had this problem when i was just 3 months, it can make you go on bed rest, just listen to the doctor, DO NOT have sex and yes you need to watch out and not do too much lifting take it easy, if it's any encouragement i went back like 3 wks after they noticed that my placenta had dropped low and it was right back to normal then ... good luck and best wishes

You should avoid heavy lifting and of course, sex. It may rise up, but your pregnancy should be ok. You may have to have a c-section, and if you experience ANY bleeding, even if its light, go get checked right away.
