So I am one of those women who hate wearing nail polish and despise long and fake nails (not on others...I think they look great actually....I just can't do them)! I just recently got engaged though and want to keep my nails nice (hopefully you don't think that is too silly) and would like to find a brand that is VERY chip resistant and LONG lasting. I'd like some color too for fall and winter, but am not too sure what's in. I am an engineer so I don't want to be too crazy (blue or green) as it may be inappropriate for my working atmosphere. I also don't want to change it EVERYDAY because I am wearing something different, basicially I mean I would like something to go with lots....not that I will never change it, but maybe only once a week or something. I also would like to buy this product at Target, K-Mart or WalMart or some store rather then spend 25 bucks at Macy's. So this is a lot of info, hope you ladies can help....Thanks ahead of time!!!

Try Opi. It has real diamond dust in it, so it doesn't chip off, and can help keep your nails stronger and more resistant to breaking and splitting. It's the brand that most nail salons use, and it is worth every penny that it costs, only about $10-15 at most stores. It's not the expensive crap where you are paying for the name, but it's so much better than the $5 bottles at Wal-Mart. Or just get their base and top coat to use over any regular brand. It won't hold up as well, but it's still better than anything you can buy in the cheap stores.

For colors, that aren't too bright or unprofessional, stick with the classics. Pinks and reds, and then add either purple or brown undertones for a hot look. Think about brick red, cinnamon, wine, ruby, garnet, or even amethyst.

I love nail polish because it is girlie, fun and sexy. I would encourage you to just give it to yourself as one of your little guilty pleasures. You can browse through some magazines to see what's in fashion, but I like to be natural and just go with what makes me feel good. Try that. Just pick a color that speaks to you. And don't worry too much about brands. I have tried them all (from manicures to drugstore stuff) and it is all about the same. If you put it on right, it will last a long time. So go out and have some fun with this. It will remind you that not only are you a genius, you are one hot little tamale too. :)

Go on Ebay and purchase any OPI nail color. They usally run about 8-9 dollars and you can get some great colors. I totally understand what you are saying, I liked to keep my nails nice when I got engaged too. They have to look nice when you are showing everyone your ring. You cannot get this brand at Target, but it is worth the price. Congrats!

im sorry honey but i think no matter what brand of nail polish- it will chip! but there are tricks u have the time...you can file the top layer of ur nail off (file ur whole nail not just the end) then apply a clear coat of nail polish, let it dry , apply 2 coats of the color u wish let it dry and apply one more clear coat and it should last u 2 weeks at the least (depending on what u do wit ur hands) good luck!

I like Maybelline and Sally Hansen nail polish, just buy a topcoat so it will last longer, that usually does the trick. I have chanel nail polish, and estee lauder, an Lancome, but I still prefer the maybelline one to those, because it's cheaper, they have a better varety of colors and they last longer.

The Revlon topcoat is the best though
