drink prune juice or eat prunes. this also helped take a magazine or book with you and read. reading will distract you and your body will relax and go. no it didnt happen to me thankfully

Thank you for that disclaimer the "call a dr now" response is always from someone with NO experience and it's so annoying!! LOL
With that said I was lucky enough not to have it serious with my 2 pregnancies. I would have a few days of nothing but usually if I just uped my water intake that would take care of it. Try drinking water and juices WHOLE juices (not concentrate) like apple, or orange...usually orange juice would do the trick within the hour!!! Perhaps something w/all the Vit. C.... See if that works. Of course if its a long time then let the Doc know...but you could probably wait until your visit.

you poor thing!!!!! I've been there so many times and I understand how uncomfortable it is for you. I hope you've talked to your doctor and he/she suggested colace. This one the number one thing that worked for me. Unfortunately, I became anemic with my first, so they had me taking an iron supplement pill. Iron constipates the hell out of you and I developed severe constipation. Drink plenty of water, and when you think you've had enough, drink some more. Fiber in your diet also helps. Bran cereal, whole wheat toast, etc. are good sources. If it's very severe, the doctor could order you to take a mild laxative as well to get things moving.

Good luck to you and I feel your pain!

I had some constipation with my son. Try an include more fiber in your diet. Eat some bran muffins, increase your fluid intake, and you should have a bowel movement. Just try not to strain too much when you are trying to go, and try and relax. The stress can make it worse. If you go more that 4 days without a bm, get a suppository.

Lots of water is one obvious suggestion.
But are you taking prenatal vitamins with a lot of IRON in them?
That is something that will constipate you for sure. Maybe you could skip a dose or 2 until you can finally go.
Then talk to your doctor about it of course.
This is one of the many "joys" of pregnancy that you'll have to look forward to for the next several months.
I hope it gets better. Good Luck!!

Try lots of water or try prunes. The doctore will probably tell you to try Colace. It will help soften the BM not necessarily make you go. I had the same problem. It was HORRIBLE. The only thing that ever worked was pancakes with lots of syrup. Strange, but it worked when nothing else did.

Constipation is a major part of preganancy. I know that caffeine should be limited during pregnancy....however, if it's okay with your doctor.....a hot cup of coffee often works. You can also soak in a good warm bath. Hope some relief comes soon.

I haven't felt that feeling, but if you're feeling constipation, I heard that you should drink a lot more fluids and foods with a lot of fiber. It'll make it easier on you. If that feeling doesn't go away, ask your doctor.

I had both problems with my pregnancies...diarrhea and constipation..Try a lil bit of exercise and drink plenty of fluids mostly water and juice....This will help. It is normal cus the weight of the baby slows ur body down. Hope you feel better. and good luck!!!

Drink lots of CLEAR fluids (water, juice) and try to stay away from constipating foods (bananas, rice, dairy).

Good Luck!
