Is 25 weeks too early to get Braxton Hicks contractions? I had a pretty bad cramp that woke me from my sleep last night. Is that what Braxton Hicks feel like?

Braxton Hicks contractions typically are painless, but can be quite uncomfortable. 25 weeks is not too early to feel them since they begin after the first trimester. All pregnant women have Braxton Hicks contractions, but they are not always felt. If it was just one bad cramp that woke you, it was most likely not a Braxton Hicks but perhaps the baby laying wrong or maybe a gas pain. Pregnant women often have digestion issues. A Braxton Hicks contraction feels more like a tightening of the stomach than a cramp.

HOWEVER IT MAY BE NORMAL TO GET BRAXTON HICKS AT 25 WEEKS YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO CAREFUL WITH ANY CRAMPING. I HAD THE SAME "CRAMPPING FEELING" AND ENDED UP IN LABOR THE NEXT DAY. GO TO THE DR AND GET CHECKED IT IS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. NEVER FEEL LIKE YOU ARE BEING A BOTHER TO THE DR, IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME NOR WILL IT BE THE LAST TIME THAT THEY CHECK A CONCERNED MOM FOR PRETERM LABOR PAINS. (BY THE WAY - AT 28 WEEKS I WAS 5CM DIALATED AND ENDED UP MAINTAINING THE PREGNANCY NEARLY TO FULL TERM SO, GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!)

They can start as early as the beginning of the second trimester. For me they reminded me of wearing a girdle across my front and having it tightened a little. Then I would feel my belly with my hand and it would be harder than normal.
