I know! it's like they don't want to see themselves with problems. they just want to place a blame on everyone else. like if a boy threw a ball in the house, he blames it on the dog. see? similar reason why discriminative bigots blames everything on homosexuals. it's just plain ridiculous. thumbs up for you!

You are correct in all aspects of your question.
Many think that being homosexual is the worst thing in the world, when there is such many other things that people do that are despicable. For example, being a child molester, killing someone, killing someone while driving drunk, beating your spouse, I can go on and on.
I believe people just say bad things about homosexuals because they follow what others say. They don't want to understand that a homosexual is just like any other person on this earth.
Do people criticize when a heterosexual has a three some or do they celebrate it because they think its is straights just having fun?
The Bible has a lot to do with this also, people take the Bible and read what they want and interpret it, the way they want.
God put us all here to live together and be good to each other not to hate each other.
Tried it but it wasn't for me. I am honest in admitting that.
***i will elaborate a bit om my statement, at one time I thought I was a lesbian, because I like to look at womens body, but that wasnt the case, I have been marriend for a long time, and I still give complements to women when they look good. Some give me strage looks but I say what I feel. And if I feel that a woman deserves a complement I do it, in some cases that makes their day, and everyone needs a good word from some body at times.

I understand the positon that you are in. I may not be a homosexual, but I have friends that are, and even a few family members. And I think that LOVE should never be considered as a sin. I do not hate gays or lesbians. I see them no differently from myself. You have feelings like I do for another person. You just choose to have those feelings with the same sex. I choose the opposite.
You know, if you really want to think about it. If God is to be the creator, and homosexuality were a sin, why would God create Homosexuals. I am not a religious person, but I believe that if God does exist, then you like myself, are one of God's children, and he created both of us. That's my take on it anyways.
I think people tend to be cruel to those that are different from them is because they are seen to be the "unknown." As for me, I love all for their differences, and ability to express their individuality. Most churches seem more like cults than a place of worship. And there are so many versions of the bible, different intrpretations by each religion. People just need to learn how to LOVE, that is the key. And no other sin is worse from the others.

I agree, but I don't think it's as bad as you think it is. The majority of anyone I have talked to have no problem with homosexuality, it's just the over religious people, conspiracy theorist, people with mental issues, and the insecure. It also has a lot to do with uneducated people, if you look back on history homosexuality has always been around. We named July after a bisexual man. Unfortunately I don't know where you are from but here in America it's just part of living here everyone has their own beliefs, some people are educated, some aren't, some people are religious, some are not. Some people are nice and some are mean. It's what makes America America. If they put on a voting ballot tomorrow to legalize gay marriages, I would be all for it. I have no problem with anyone that loves each other getting married regardless of their sex. It's not going to disrupt my life at all if two women or men get married. Life will go on.

They think this way , just because they are not homosexual. For instance.. they really cannot march in a parade that condemns lying.. because everyone knows better!! They need to just quit judging everyone else but themselves and their fellow church -goers anyway!!
And besides, there is only one (i guess you could call it clear) connotation of homosexuality in the bible (nooo the story of lot and sodom is not 100% "gay".. because in ezekial, it states sodom was detroyed for being inhospitable!) and that is in the book of leveticus.. which is the most contradictory book in the bible! And is the one most christians use to condemn people.. They like to pick at scripture from this book a lot.
to mr. luay down below me... homosexuality is not the cause of many STD's. lol Aids is popular in the male homosexual rings, only because of the blood involved, sometimes. That is talking about sex though .. AIDS is primarily spread through drug users, actually. And if STD's is what the christian community is so worried about regarding homosexuality.. where are the sermons on the middle -aged men that sleep with prostitutes or the sermons on adult toy stores, etc...? We hardly ever hear of that compared to being gay.
I see the deadly 7 sins in the bible, and the 10 commandments.. lust, greed, thou shall not judge, etc...
No where in the bible do i see a creed that states "thou shall not be homosexual"! If it is that important, wouldn't you think, they would come right out and say it?? Since the actual word "lesbian" was around when King james printed the bible at that time. They could have added it, if that is what it was meant to say. King james added the word "stargazer" when referring to condemning those that practiced astrology. Just, if it was THAT important to dwell on, they would have added it then.

I think you got a little more to the point than most people do with this issue. And you're exactly right. Most of the gay bashers and Bible thumpers are doing exactly what the 10 Commandments tell us not to do. Why is it that their "sins" are any less noticable than a gay person's sin? It's not. It's the fact that there is one small element of difference which happens to stand out like a sore thumb to the general public! We're all the same and we all come short of the glory of God regardless of whether we're gay or straight. It's just that simple.

There can be no doubt that little scares the fundamentalist movement like the word "homosexual". I am a heterosexual father of three (all in their 20's). The only thing we want for our kids is that they live their lives being comfortable with who they are. We have talked over the years that all children should be able to talk to their parents about anything they are going through and that includes sexuality. I hope that enough young people will have this approach that in time ones sexuality will not be the primary image people have of him or her.
What really amazes me is that we are living in a world where madmen have nuclear weapons, terrorists may strike anywhere or anytime, ethnic cleansing has become a household word and half of the people in this country are worried about women sleeping with women or men sleeping with men! Go figure.
Do the best you can in moving ahead with your life. Try to remember that there are heterosexuals out there, like me, that support your lifestyle and have taken a private vow to never support any candidate for office who states he or she will support the trampling of your rights to pursue your life as you see fit.

I see two different issues addressed in your posting.
First: As to why people think homosexuality outweighs everyhing else, in a large part because many of us choose to use language that suggests that. Homosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgenderal were all originally adjectives, i.e. homosexual people. When we started using it as a noun we made our sexual preference the totality of who we were rather than, as it was originally, only one aspect of who we are. I am not "A Bisexual". I am a well rounded and successfull human being who happens to be bisexual.
As to the "sin" question. If you are indeed a Bible scholar you should be aware that "sin", like "mitzvah", has nothing to do with right and wrong or good and evil. When you become Jewish you swear to the God of Abraham to obey the Laws of Moses, when you violate those laws you are breaking your promise to God, it is the breaking of the promise that constitues a "sin", not the performing of the forbidden act itself. As a Pagan I have sworn no such oath, so my actions even if wrong, or utterly reprehensible, are not "sins" they are simply "crimes". Since "sin" refers to the breaking of the oath all sins are indeed equal, since it doesn't specify which of the laws you've broken, only that that you've broken one. One last point, by hopelessly blurring the lines between "evil" and "sinfull" Christians have given themselves carte blanche to commit any crime they wish. Since crime=sin and their sins are forgiven, their crimes are, by implication, forgiven as well.

You make a good point. Some people really do go overboard with their homophobia. You are right that sin is sin in the eyes of God. People need to realize that. However, I haven't seen people committing the aforementioned sins, marching for the right to commit them openly. Of course they didn't need to as these things have been accepted as the "norm".
To answer your question, I think the gay marches, parades, etc., hurt the gay liberation movement the same as bra burninig hurt the femenist movement.
People thought it was silly. Then laws changed and they became angry.

I dont hate anyone.
I have friends and family that are black, white, mixed, happy, sad, and angry. I also have friends and family that are straight, gay, bi, rich, poor, honest, liars, fat, and skinny.
I love them all the same. They don't change a person. We are all individuals and everyone in this world lives their own life. People that judge others are the ones that are ignorant.
I live in a world with Blacks, Whites, Asians, Chinese, Mexicans, and many others.
Nothing I do is going to change anything so some people just need to open their eyes and realize they aren't better than anyone else.

A) Frankly, as I tell them, Christianity is NOT my religion therefore it's tenents and ideas, such as "sin" are meaningless to me.
B) Simply because certain passages may be written to be interpreted as saying homosexuality is a sin, it gives them the option, the illusion of the authority of their deity backing up their own deeply imbedded bigotry and hatred.
