I wish they would find the answer to why some people are heavy and some people are not. No sarcasm here please. Being overweight isn't always because you eat to much.
Weight is not always as easy to loose as 1,2,3; even if you watch your diet and exercise. Some people find it difficult to loose weight no matter what they do. Those that can loose weight easily are the lucky ones. Heredity plays a part. I am overweight and get tired of being told that all I have to do is cut down on my diet and exercise. I already do both and have done so for a year; I have lost very little. I have to be satisfied that my blood levels and BP are lower. That still doesn't help when you look in the mirror.

Actually, aside from the eat less, do more...there was a show on recently that talked about this. NovaScience Now talked about how certainly people had a genotic disposition to retaining a predetermined body weight. What scientists had discovered over the years is that when your stomach gets full, it releases a protein called Leptin (meaning thin in greek or latin?) causes your brain to quit feeling hungry. They thought by injecting Leptin into people that they could control hunger. However it only worked in certain people. What they later discovered is that certain people had malformed Leptin "receivers". And since the leptin didn't have any place to dock and send the signal to the brain, those people just keep on eating.
They did go on to say that this is only a small percentage of the population and that controlling what you eat and excercising is the best thing anyone can do. But for a limited amount of people it's actually impossible to know when they aren't hungry, because they are always hungry. And those people need carefully regulate what they eat (how much) until they are "cured".

They way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise. No pill will fix it. Funny we're not willing to give up junk food or walk 30 min a day but we'll take a pill. BTW there is all kinds of research going on looking for your miracle cure but I'd suggest the gym.

Scientists are currantly working on cakes made from anti-matter. These will of course contain anti-calories which will exactly cancel out the effects of calories in a normal cake, so you get to eat not one but TWO cakes and the result is - no calories consumed ! There is a slight side-effect however, in that the eater tends to evaporate in a blast of gamma rays leaving behind a sizeable crater.

As GirlinNB said, science already knows how people can lose weight. It isn't a mystery, it isn't a secret, there isn't a miracle cure. But it's simple: Eat less and exercise more.

There is a simple way. Except for a few people who have certain medical conditions, eat properly and get enough exersise, and you will be a healthy weight. Unfortunately our society dictates a weight that's skinnier than "healthy".

You don't need science - you need a brain to keep weight off such as: just stop going for seconds, start exercising and keep your hands out of the chip bags, stop drinking pop, start drinking water and TA DAAAA, weight comes off. Easy as one, two, three.

You have to run about an hour a day, do some serious weight lifting and eat lots of veggies to find the answer they are trying to keep from you...
