Why does the sun keep on shining?
Why does the sea rush the shore?
Don't they know its the end of the world...
It ended when you lost your love!
Why do the birds keep on singing?
Why do the stars shine above?
Don't they know its the end of the world...
It ended when you said Goodbye!
(The earth is referred to as the world, right?)♥

Big question >>We can only look ahead into the future and take a "good" guess at it -- based upon our present understanding of science, and religion. A scientist might base the end of the Earth on when our Sun goes super nova and destroys us and a couple other planets. He might also consider other great events happening like a large planetary object hitting us and wiping the human race out--check out Jupiter a few years ago when it got hit by about 12 large bodies. Perhaps a new virus will come along and cause world-wide deaths on a major scale. A person of religion might say that God has plans for us and that it is writ ten in the bible on how our "end" shall come. God has said that he will not use water to flood the Earth again--so what does that leave ?---fire?. Science is learning more all the time--adding to our knowledge of the phyiscal universe in which we live. Who knows what is yet to come in our understanding ----both in science, and religion.

Our sun is growing very slowly, and in a few billion years it will actually grow so big that it engulfs Mercury, and by that time the sun will be so hot that all moisture on Earth will have evaporated into space. Eventually the sun will engulf the Earth too, and that will be the end of the Earth. For real.

As a living place, may be no longer than 1000 years, as planet in the universe, as long as the sun grows and engulf the surrounding planets Mercury, Venus and Earth, this is expected to happen in 5.000.000 years ahead. The real answer would be, it's worthy all what we do against our human brothers and nature to enjoy a better life quality, even, being condemned in advance to the end and total extermination?

I am told it was originally scheduled for early in 1998, but ran into some legal issues. The Unions filed an injuction on behalf of the workers whose jobs would be adversely impacted, and PETA also filed one on behalf of each and every animal species that would lose their native habitats.
The idea was finally scrapped as the Environmental Impact Statement for the EPA proved to be more time consuming than the project was deemed to be worth.

Earth will be here for millions of years, unless there is a super gigantic metorites hit it sometime in the future.
Life on Earth is subject to human intervention. I am guessing it is till ok for another hundred years or so.
