went for neck pain/stiffness from a cold. got an adjustment on second visit.

he is trying to make me a regular patient so he can fix my straight neck (supposed to be curved) and straighten my spine. I have a slight curve (scoliosis). are all chirpractors like this, or did I just find a bad one?

the extra things he is trying to treat me for do not cause pain. I think he just wants my $ and is using scare tactics to get it.

Chiropractors seem to want to overtreat (especially compared to osteopaths).

I was getting fortnightly corrections for 2 years. When I finaly got a PCP who was also an osteopath, he helped me with barely more than 3-4 corrections in a year (when I was in accute pain).

What chirpractors do, does seem to give relief. But better posture, exercise, etc. also has a similar result (and I have ahot tub in my garden - need a quick session now).

OTOH, I went to a chiro in South Florida who was excellent. He performed an examination first (after heat, ultrasound/eletrical stimulation), BEFORE if/when doing any correction. He had pictures of varius professional athletes on his walls, that he'd treated - pretty cool guy.

Have used mine for years. Hopefully your doctor required x-rays before being willing to do any manipulation on your back and neck . If not then RUN!!!!

Chiropractic care is not a cure but a treatment; just like a massage helps relax muscles or a perm curls hair so if you continue to have pain you need to continue to use a chiropractor. some need them weekly just to stay aligned. I only go when I have done something to really pull my bones out of wack. The rest of the time I fine that basic yoga stretching keeps me in place and out of pain.

If you have scoliosis, you may need weekly treatment until you muscle tighten up to keep you spine the the proper position. My niece did this instead of the surgery and she is fine now.

Hope this give you some help in deciding.

Sounds like you found a bad chiropractor. i go to a chiropractor and he doesn't fix anything that isn't wrong. However I do know that part of adjusting your back has to do with the neck being adjusted as well.

you had pain....he no doubt xrayed you and adjusted your neck. Did it help? If it did, I suggest he may just be doing a good job. If it didn't but he sees a scoliosis, you may need to see an osteopathic doctor.

Try http://painbalm.net it very low cost, it's a 100% natural topical, so you don't have to put any drugs in your body, it works in minutes and last fro months, so you need to apply it only 3-4 times a month. it works great and you could save money and time with you pain doc.

The truth is that your chiropractor cares for you and your health. Not only would you start feeling better, but you would have a better quality of life, and get sick less.

if you havent gotten xrays of your spine, do so.

and you have the right to a second opinion, so see another doctor and see what they recommend and see what the xrays show.

good luck
