I have started a new job and some of the people are friendly, but most of them aren't. The problem is my job consists of seeing most employees more than once in a day. Some don't really say anything others do. Does anyone know a good ice breaker and unique things to do to impress the boss, for quick promotion, say in 6 months time?

Thats a good question. I think work relatonships are important, can make all the diff between enjoying and not enjoying your job. Your colleagues sound like a bunch of twats though! Try calling everyone by name, people like that. Ask them questions about themselves but not too personal and asking for advice is good. Eg, which movie should you see, which route should you take to such and such place. Compliment people on things, eg nice earrings/dress. Try and get them out for a friaday night after work drink as people are very different out of work and alcohol is the best ice breaker ever. Even if only one person will come that is a start. If your boss thinks you are nice and sees you are making an effort with people then surely thats a good start to impressing him/her.

On your first payday buy cakes for the office (unless your in an office with 100 people of course) and send an email to the team saying thought i would treat us all to some cakes to say hi and introduce myself properly to you all... you will find even the quietest person comes takes a cake or even just mails you back to say thanks... Ive been temping 7 years and have used this three times now not only is it a good ice breaker but you get to find out the ones who you can and cant click with...

Happy eating!!! mmmmmmm did someone say cakes in the kitchen... im sooooooo there...

It fairly relies upon on the guy. it incredibly is extra handy in case you comprehend what forms of issues the guy is attracted to. you mustn't faux to have an interest nonetheless while you're no longer because you will run out of issues to assert and have an ungainly silence. you may discover ways to think of on your ft. the least complicated way i can advise is you employ your observational skills and strike up a verbal substitute in line with something around you or something the guy is doing. That way you're no longer popping out of left container with some random question approximately no longer something.

In UK we talk about weather. If you are from US or Australia, it might not work, but worth a try.
