First, find the name and title of the person you are writing to to find a position. Then, in normal letter format and all seperate paragraphs, i.e., introduction, (tell them what you are and what you want), body (why you and your skill set would fit into their company in that positon) and conclusion, (how their company would benefit from your joining that position). Complete by prompting a response such as, I will call you next week so that we may speak further on the benefits of my joining ABC Inc.
Sincerely,
Dody Rose
Also, make sure your spelling and punctuation are perfect.

First Paragraph make sure you introduce yourself and put where you saw the ad and what position your applying for, and A brief sentece that says why you feel you're the most qualified.
Second paragraph, Go more into detail about the experiences that qualify you for the job.
Third par, Close with a conclusion and how excited you will be looking forward to hearing from them and leave a contact number via email. even if it is on your resume.

Cover letter are easy to right. On the top usually to the right you write your address and your telephone number. Now people have started writing on the left. That is followed by the nmae and address of the person you are writing to. This should include his position at the company you are applying for the job that should follow his name and after his position should follow the Company namr and address.
Then you write "dear Sir" or madam if you know that the person you are writing to is a woman;
Then say that you understand that there is a vacancy for a job and you are applying for it by sending your resume to show that you are best qualified for the job and hope to meet with "you" in person to convince "you" of your merit.
And then close by Saying "yours truly" or "yours faithfully"
and sign your name bellow which you type your name. or if you are handwriting print your name.

write it in 3 paragraphs...
1st paragraph. Explain where you found the position and that you'd like to submit your qualifications for consideration.
2nd paragraph. Here's the 'meat'. Hit the high points of your abilities and match them with the requirements for the position.
3rd paragraph. Thank them for their time and let them know you'll be calling to answer any follow up questions and interview availability in the next week. This could also be to verify receipt of the cover letter/resume.
good luck

Cover letters should NEVER be a form letter. Always be addressed to the specific individual in charge of hiring (usually a personnel manager or some such position). For different types of jobs, the cover letter would be different.
A good example:
Dear Mr/Ms. ______:
It has been brought to my attention that you are currently hiring for ______________ position within your company. I believe that I am well-qualified and would suit your company's needs ideally.
Your advertisement specified that ______ education was needed at minimum for this position. I have ________ degree, as well as experience with ______________ and _____________. Additionally, I have spent time learning about _________ with regard to increasing my knowledge of the operation of _____________.
If you would like to schedule an interview with me, you may reach me via email at _________________ or by telephone at __________________.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Very truly yours,
Prospective Employee Name

In actual fact, you do not need to write a cover letter because not many people read it anyway.
You need to read this article,
