Lip Rings...?

Question

My friend is a "punk" rock looking person.
I'm more of a "preppy" looking person.
The other day, I went with her to get her nipples pierced.
It looked extremely painful.
She has her lip pierced and is now telling me I need to pierce mine.
I have asked like 20 people if I should do it and they are always like "no it doesnt fit you."

Can a preppy looking person pull a lip ring off?

Please, serious answers only.

Also, if you know anyone with a lip ring does it scar when you take it out??

I really appreciate everyones opinions. This is really helping in my decision.
In the past, I wanted a lip ring but I'm really not sure that I do.
I'm 18 and I have a kid so I probably shouldn't be piercing things now that I have her.

I have my lip pierced and I love it but you shouldn't get just because you friend told you that you HAD to get it... That's you choice not your friends!!!

A lip ring does not go with a preppy look. Your instincts are correct, as are the people you've already asked. Walk around with a temporary one for a day. My guess is you won't like it. Do you really want to risk a scar? Piercing and preppy don't really mix with the exception of earlobes. If you absolutely must, a discreet nose piercing (diamond stud no larger than a half carat) might satisfy you. But as other posters said, be wary of scars.

Some people just dont look good with a lip ring. If you dont think it looks right, then I would suggest not getting it. However you can take a tiny hoop earring and put it on your lip to get an idea of what it will look like. As for scarring...with any piercing it will affect the scar tissue, but it will eventually fade. But yes. there will be a tiny scar. nothing too terrible to handle though. hope this helps!!

Ok coming from me, i had my nose tongue, lip nipples, belly bgutton , and my no no spot pierced. I took them out. I went back to repierce my nipples and that hurt like hell bc they went thru scar tissue. With any piercing there may be either a scar or an indentation point where it was taken out. The healing depends on how well you take care of it, for example if you continue to wash it as if you still had it in. You have to moisturize it too. However, piercings are a personal choice. I got mine to be different. You however seem to worry about what others will think about you, like its some major shock or something. Do this, go to hot topic, I hope yoy have one in yr area, its like my fave store, and get a faux lip ring for like five bucks. Put it in the place on yr lip that you want to get pierced. Everyone that you come in contact with will believe that it is real...its a simple solution if you dont want to go thru the real pain. If ppl respond in a pleasured way go on and get it done if u want and if they dont its only temporary.

DO IT IF U WANT TO; NOT CAUSE UR FRIEND SAYS U NEED TO. I HAVE MY LIP PIERCED & I'M NOT A PUNK-ROCK TYPE OF PERSON. ANYONE CAN PULL IT OFF. THE TYPE OF JEWELRY U WEAR MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE TOO. DURING THE DAY WHEN I'M AT THE OFFICE I HAVE A SMALL STUD IN (MY BOSS & A BUNCH OF CLIENTS DIG IT) & DURING THE WEEKEND WHEN I GO OUT I WEAR A HOOP. I'VE HAD MY PIERCING FOR A FEW YEARS NOW; I LOVE IT! THE HOLE IS SO SMALL I DON'T THINK IT'LL LEAVE A SCAR. IF IT DOES I'M SURE IT'S NOTHING A LIL MAKE UP WON'T COVER. GOOD LUCK!

i had my lip ring taken out a year ago and i still have a little hole, you always will, it may lessen over time and no one really notices it, but i see it when i look in the mirror. also i had my nose pierced twice and both scars are still there and have been there for years. anything you put a hole into your body will scar. I hate when women get their nipples piered becuz if you see what it does AFTER you take the ring out and the bumps it leaves on your nipples., its so nasty. She now will have two tiny nipples aside her natural one HAHA. my husband had his nipples peirced years back and so did my girlfriend. and both of them have defermored lookin bumps around them, Its histarical. poor girl. And no, unless your punk, i wouldnt suggest getting anything pierced youd just look like a jackass, like, could you imagine the prez with a lip ring? no.

Get a lip ring ONLY if YOU want it -- don't succumb to peer pressure. If you are a minor, you will need your parents consent. And, as a nurse, I can testify to the countless numbers of people with scars from piercings they removed later on. So, my best advice to you is to think if you really want this, do you want to deal with the possibility of scars later and, if you do, then go for it.

Lip rings look awful and they are very hard to find a decent job with. Yes they do leave a scar and generally never fully heal back closed. I suggest not doing it. And like everyone else said, don't do it because your friend told you to.

I know some people who have had them and it did scar when they got tired of it. Also just as an opinion....they aren't all that nice looking. Punk people have that sence about them...it's npot for preppy chicks or guys in my book. It makes you look like a wannabe sort of...

hmm im not a big fan of lip rings. not to offend anyone that has one, but i think they look trashy. if you want to get a piercing, you should get a little stud in your nose. i think that would be super cute and would still fit with your preppy style.

dont let your friend force you into doing anything. if you dont want it then say 'no' to your friend. you are not in the mindset to get something so horrible. it will sting for a month and your lip will become fat. why do you want to look like an ugly duckling? just be yourself and say no.
