carried in the stomach wouldn't the gastric juices eat it up?

hahaha.... they are referring to stomach as the space between the ribs and the groin. Not the actual stomach.

Stomach is easier on the ears than uterus. Better would be carrying in the abdomen. Couldn't imagine having to hurl up a baby. Other way out is enough of an event.

I think most people know that the baby isn't carried in her actual stomach, that is just the area that people associate with the stomach.

I would hope and pray only children think that. Most people refer to it as a stomach or belly because the uterus takes it's place in the area. Just because people say tummy, belly, stomach, doesn't mean they think the baby is "in" the stomach.

I think a lot of people just say that in jest. Because it looks like the stomach area from the outside of the body. I don't think anyone most people really think that, they just say it because they don't want to get into the female anatomy in an informal conversation.

I think only kids believe that and adults say it as a figure of speech. It is said for the same reason people say that they have a stomach ache when it is really their large or small intestine.
