A friend of my fathers was hypnotised 3 years ago, to give up smoking and hasnt touched a cigarette since, he lit one the next day and couldnt stand the taste and thus hasnt smoked at all since, i was curious if this could be applied to junk food or whatever an individual wanted.

It is possible to be hypnotised for that if you go to a proper qualified therapist.

I'm sure you could. With the smoking thing though, I know people who it has worked on and people who it hasn't. I don't think it can be used to stop you eating junk food. Remember that you NEED food to live and how would the hypnotist be able to decipher between junk food and good food. the reason it works on smoking is that it takes away that part of your brain that feels like it needs a cigarette - it takes away that feeling that you have ever smoked. I don't think it would work with eating.

Hypnotism is just a form of suggestion. If you are suggestable, you could be hypnotised to avoid certain foods. However, to get to a healthy diet, you also need planning and will power.

sure. your subconscious is aimed at; the same part of your psyche that triggered off the craving in you in the first place, so it is possible. CTA or conditioned taste aversion is another such therapy for deaddiction performed by a behavioral therapist if you donot want to go to a hypnotist.

hypnotism only works if you already have the motivation. If you do not really want to change a certain behavior, no amount of hypnosis will change your mind. It is only a reinforcement of what you already have decided that you really want.

I have heard people say hypnotism worked for them. I tried it but it didn't work for me. It may have been the hypnotist or it may have been me. Ive heard some people can't be hypnotized.

Probably. Didn't Paul McKenna put people off chocolate. I'm assuming the hypnotist can put you off anything you ask them to
