It really depends on how much you have to spend, the number of family members, and how much they are willing to spend for you. You dont want to go broke in the process and gifts are not about getting the most expensive present. You arent trying to buy their love, its all about the thought that counts. I typically get the most practical gift without overdoing a conservative realistic budget. But this budget is different for everyone so you should take time and come up with a plan.

On the kids about $100 to $200 a child and family about $50 for any adult, maybe $75 for a couple. I would try and buy several gifts for that amount and steer away from just one LARGE gift. It's nice to see them open alot of presents at Christmas!

At the request of my broke family way less than usual. The granddaughters have everything they want or need. The baby, 17 mo. has enough clothes for six toddlers because of all the cool hand me downs from the older two girls.
I will try to limit it to $75-100 each for my two adult kids and son in law. And for the three girls I iwill try and stick to $100 each.
My husband and I don't get each other gifts anymore because we get what we want when we want it. This year we are buying ourselves a 61" plasma TV. Can't wait!
The best gifts, of course, will be that we will all be together!

I usually give them cash in their stockings and they go to the after Christmas sales and get TWICE as much stuff.
I taught them that when they were about 12-13 (what do teenage girls love more than the mall/shopping?)
Now that they're older, they love it even more. But last year, we decided to put 1-2 gifts a piece, under the tree in addition to the money.

This year I estimated about $2000 on the kids(we have 4 children) and my fiance if he gets his way $1200 (it's a trip he's been wanting to take for years and never had the opportunity)!!! Hopefully it pays off and I'll get the present I want for my birthday in February!!! LOL :)

I have 8 kids so they dont get pampered. I tell them santa brings one gift and mom and dad bring the rest, so they know they will get at least one good gift, I guess I spend about $100 each.

Every cent that I can afford; but luckily my family doesn't expect people to spend tons of money. And we don't ask for expensive gifts. To us, it's the thought that counts.â¥
