A used one with only a few features. It's just like a car, IMO. Why should the teen be spoiled with a nice, fully-featured, new phone? Unless the teen wants to work and pay for it.

A T-mobile sidekick is amazing. You can search the web, instant message, e-mail, take pictures, plus a few other things I probably forgot to mention. It is only $1 a day for unlimited web, messaging, e-mail, and picture messages. It is avaliable pay-as-you-go, or with a plan. It is just all around amazing. :-)

Pay as you go!

All the extra features are not needed or else they will be distracted with the messaging, camera etc that the phone will not be used only when needed.
