I would have to say that you can pretty much do what you want, as long as you do it within reason. If you go overboard, then yes, its tacky, just like everything else can be. Therefore, I guess, your answer should be yes, you can wear it.

Maybe this is an age or geography thing, but as an over 50 woman in mountain country, I would not consider wearing a skirt in public unless I also wore nylons. My granddaughters age 4,6 and 10 do not wear nylons, but somewhere along the line in high school my other granddaughters developed the habit. My husband and son would die of embarrassment, if anyone else knew, but they have been known to wear nylons under their jeans during hunting season. Supposedly, they help keep you warm. Perhaps if I were a young thing with well toned and tanned legs who lived near the beach, it might be different. LOL

Yes you can, I'm guessing you are not referring to pantyhose which most people call "nylons" these days. I'm guessing you are referring to stay ups or stockings with a garter belt. If it is apparent that other people can tell that you are wearing non pantyhose hosiery eg: the skirt you are wearing is on the short side, that would be considered tacky. Unless you want to look like a cheap streetwalker. In other words it should look like you are wearing just plain old pantyhose even if you are not.

You are to always wear nylons, pantyhose, or something with a skirt. It's tacky to show off anyone's white / sometimes hairy legs. Growing up that's how it was always done, and I will always do so. So does everyone else in my office, plus friends, etc. Summertime I find it's a "whatever" type of attitude, but as a general rule - ALWAYS - cover your legs when wearing skirts.

I can't believe that sounds tacky to you. I always thought that it was proper to wear nylons with a skirt every time. I am speaking of dressing for work, of course, not casual.

My wife's grandmother would say that when you wear a skirt, you must wear nylons. But she is a tacky dresser.....

I am firm believer in pantyhose anytime the legs are showing. They improve the look and feel of the legs. I dont like garters and stockings but thats a personal thing. But as for your answer NO they are not tacky at all..

I have to agree with everyone else and wonder why you would think it is tacky. It's usually considered proper to wear pantyhose with a skirt, unless of course it's casual, and you are wearing sandals.

Are you talking stockings and garters or are you talking pantyhose? If the former, then the garters should not show through the skirt and the skirt must be long enough so that the tops of the stockings cannot be seen. If pantyhose, make sure that you can't see the control top (if you use them).
