Others might suggest it encourages segregation and misunderstanding between people. I am not taking sides. What do you think?

That's a tough one. On the one hand I believe that people should be proud of their heritage. However, living in Central Texas I have seen first hand how multiculturalism can be divisive.

Being an American and having a deep appreciation of how the great "melting pot" of our society has contributed to our prosperity I tend to lean towards multiculturalism being more divisive than helpful. If you want to become a part of the "soup" you have to contribute to the broth just like everyone else. That is not to say that you should give up being a carrot. It just means that you should aspire to being a carrot in the soup rather than being a segregated side dish.

I think FORCED multiculturalism encourages contempt not tolerance. Being forced to integrate and sacrifice leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth, the haves have to sacrifice a lot of their culture and values for the sake of diversity. What is wrong with wanting to associate and live with people that share your same values and beliefs? When it happens on its own multiculturalism can be a beautiful thing and lead to a greater understanding of each other but this will neverhappen when it is forced by the government in the name of diversity.

Forced multiculturalism, as practiced in the USA these days, is not a good thing. It results in intolerance and feelings of being encroached upon. No one wants to admit the truth that while it's great to learn about others' cultures, the truth is that the races want to be segregated and want NOT to co-exist. It's not about not being open-minded, but people just want to be among their own kind. This is why you see so much pride within the context of cultural groups. Blacks stick together ("It's an 'us' thing."). Puerto Ricans yell their "mi orgullo" mantra. Latinos seek each other out, join clubs together and support Latino businesses together ("lo nuestro"). Whites flee to the suburbs trying to live like the old days, without having to speak Spanish in their neighborhoods or listening to rap music in the driveway. It's just the way it is, and people should accept it. We can live together in harmony in society at large, but in the context of the home, our own cultural groups want to be segregated for the purpose of peace.

I think it has the potential to be both. The biggest problem we have with the multicultural experiment in America is poor education and divisiveness brought on by the media. If you are actually interacting with those of another culture, and not just witnessing somebody's version of another culture on T.V., it can be productive. It was a great man (Anton Lavey) who said "Diversity is the enemy of herd mentality". Words to the wise.

Yes and you would be right Multiculturalism is when you stick a bunch of different people that have diferent cultures together. When you just have one culture together the become intolerable to other cultures. It brings many together, and sometimes it does turn out in violence but not normally

8 nations words that describe the LORD your God.?
they all when viewed from a certain veiw point describe one single Man called lari Tod appearing with sealed cuts looking like IIII I . So to make biblical prophesies come true 2 more national languages need to be discovered so that the 10 nation confederacy can unite under the Supreme Being.
IIII I .
IIII I E U
IIII I . S
IIII I = U S with = underlined as DEUS
CuTnuTiT as GOTT
CuTOD as GOD
allari with a I above the r to make it allah
S\\HANCuTIIII I as SHANGDI

THE LORD IS GOD.
but all those holy words describe Me so I AM the promised visitation of the Lord thy God but existing rulers deny deny deny cause they want their sons to be the LORD GODS but they are the false Gods and I AM is the God who is true, pure, and 1.

Why don't you ask the Canadian people how well it has worked?
Multiculturalism has come close to destroying Canada, and is doing the same for the USA.

I think it does, provided it is used with education. Having people se other cultures, and know they are no differant, and learn about their own cultures as well as others makes everyone appreciate people more!

IT IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE LIVING IN A MULTI CULTURAL SOCIETY - OPEN MINDED PEOPLE CAN LEARN SOME MUCH ABOUT THE DIFFERENT RACES OF THIS PLANET. THE REST WOULD HAD TROUBLE ANYWHERE, ANYWAY, WITH SOMETHING ELSE..
