I don't drink coffee (doc's orders) and I don't have a dial up (DSL), so can't help you there.
But I can guess for making coffee, the dial-up will be slow and for an Internet access the coffee maker will be even slower.

Coffeemaker

golly.... they are both waaaaay slower than they should be, and you know how I am about patience. However, the coffeemaker, while it might not be faster, is easier to deal with. You can start the coffee, walk away, do other things, come back, and it will be ready to drink. The dial-up, not only can you not walk away from it, but every single time you want to do something else, you have to go through the waiting process all over again.... errrr!

With your coffeemaker, you can have a cup of coffee, drink it all, and make another coffee,... and the dial up modem still has not completed the download.

Definitely the coffeemaker.

The dial-up, It seems that coffeemaker takes forever. Maybe because I HAVE to have that first cup of coffee in the morning, like NOW!! I love coffee.

Coffeemaker. My parents have dial up and it is sooooooooo terribly sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. I couldn't get pages to load in faster than 10 minutes. How worthless.

Okay, I don't have a coffee maker so I'm going to go to Walmart and buy a coffeemaker and coffee, and bring it home and set it all up and make some coffee. That way I have some refreshments while I'm still hearing...

The coffeemaker - thank God! If it wasn't that quick, I wouldn't be awake to use the dial-up! Well, I have DSL, but for the purposes of this question......♥

The coffeemaker. And I can't pour vinegar into my computer to speed it up. Plus, my coffeemaker does disconnect itself every freakin' 10 minutes! grrrrr....
