Where do movie makers get information on military/covert ops planning and execution?

Are there any books on it , or web sites? If someone wanted to write a script about a military covert ops mission, where would someone find information about it?

There are these guys they hire called consultants. They are usually ex-covert ops people, ex-military, ex-cops.....etc. They usually get the information for any type of role from someone who has worked in that field of expertise.
