Please give me some info on how easy and how to change out the oxygen sensor on a 2001 Galant. thanks

It is quite simple. The important part is that you purchase a QUALITY replacement.
They are not normally hard to get to on this model. Locate it, disconnect the electrical plug, and with either a 7/8" BOX wrench, or a socket designed for this component (purchase at the discount parts store for < $25.00) remove the old unit,. Add a conservative amount of anti-seize to the threads of the new sender, and thread it into the hole. When it runs out of thread, use the tool to secure it, but don't OVERtighten it, as damage can result.
Reconnect the electrical plug and it is done. All that is left is to change the other one, behind the Catalytic converter.
