If a women (or girl) abandon their baby, it is usually because they don't think they can take care of the baby. She wants to do what is best for the baby-it doesn't mean she doesn't love that child, and she may feel later that it was a mistake, to give it up. The courts will protect the child and decide if the natural mother is worthy of being a part of the child's life-even if she doesn't get the baby back, she may get visitation. If the child is lucky the adoptive parents and the natural mother can become close and share the child's time as they grow up. Everyone involved could be grateful if it is handled properly.

The person abandoned should feel more grateful, as harsh as that may sound. The abandoned baby gets a chance at a normal life with parents that will love him/her and a good life. Most likely the mother was either too caught up in other things or was not in a position where she could raise the child. More cases than not, the mother was just not ready to grow up and couldn't think of someone other than themself.

As far as the biological coming around, that is personal. Some people want to see them some don't. If she is demanding her kid back, good luck. She doesn't deserve that kid back. She abandoned him/her. No judge in their right mind would even make the adoptive parents give her rights to see that kid let alone make them hand the kid over.

First of all, if the child was brought up his whole life by someone else, it would mean he is now an adult. He/she can make their own decisions if they want a relationship with the biological mother. If a child was abondoned, the "stranger" should have been given court approved guardianship for the child, and probably adoped the child. They are the parents! The biological mother can request return of a minor child, only through the courts. Depending on the mother's ability to care for the child would the courts allow a minor to be returned to her.

If the mother abandoned the baby, she has also abandoned all right over that child. There are other ways of giving your child and still being a part of their life, such as adoption. But if you just leave your child to be found, with a great risk that the child will not survive if not found, then you have no right to come back 10 years later and say you want to be part of it's life!

well that woman gave up her rights as a parent when she abandoned the baby. unless you're talking about adoption, and then i think if its told up front that the mother would want future access to the child when its old, then the adoptive parents need to know that so they know to expect it in the future. the biological mother wanted to do the right thing and give her child a future she knew she couldnt give, so she should have the right to know her child in the future. not just wonder about it every day.
but if she left it on the street and someone found it, then no, she has no rights and should be put in jail for child endangerment.

Is this a real question or a hypothetical question?

I believe the question is what is the meaning "mother" not who is more grateful.

Mother is by my term some one who take care of the love one despite of him or her self. self sacrifice, trust, devotion, emotional naturing and time. It is irreverent to biological link to the person or the sex of the person.

To Mother someone or mothering mean to act as a mother. To me if you act as a mother over time you come what you act as.

If I were that child, I would be the one who is more grateful... grateful that I was loved/nurtured by those who brought me up, grateful for those who loved me, who cared enough to stick it out thru thick & thin to always be there for me.
