I would not do anything because "Oprah says so."
She has become overly self inflated in importance, and, unfortunately has this nearly charismatic ruling over WAY too many people. They will buy something because "Oprah says so" - they will do something because "Oprah says so" - they will believe something because "Oprah says so".
It's like the chant of the undead.
And, before someone jumps on me and goes into "all the good she does". Yea, she does good, but she's always right there, in the middle of it, with TV crews present, taking all the credit for it.
She does not now, nor did she ever impress me.

I wonder what books you have read?
I have read a few of Oprah's picks and I loved them, including A Million Little Pieces (which if you read it as a fiction book is very good).
The Wally Lamb book she picked is a great read.... She's Come Undone. Then he has another called I Know This Much is True, which is excellent. Back Roads is a good one too.
Her giving book picks is like a friend suggesting books, or movies to you. Some aren't that great, but others are worth the read.

I do not like Oprah. She does butt into everything and what's worse is that she thinks she has the right to. I read a book called The Pilot's Wife a long time ago before I knew it was on her list. I would NEVER read anything she suggests we read. She is so fake, she depends on everybody backing her up and her crowd, ughhh, they are just as fake, kissing her ***. She kisses all celebrities asses too. I hate her.

Never again! I bought 2 and thought both sucked.... just not my type of reading and I agree with you, she has enough money let others pick books out and get a piece of pie.

In my opinion . . .
She knows as much about literary art as my next door neighbor's dog knows about beauty, which isn't much!
She merely is a puppet for the U.S. Propaganda machine.
There are millions of people in the U.S. who apparently are not capable of making their own decisions, and foolish enough to allow others to tell them what to do, how to think, and what to believe!!!

I would only buy a book recommended by someone who knows my taste in books, knows what I like - I would never run out and buy something based on the say-so of someone I didn't know and who didn't know me!

Oprah is a self serving black big snob who thinks she knows it all she should get some fried chicken and watermelon and find a gorilla who will commit to her in a relationship
