I agree, I also see no reason why simply having music from a cd that you own playing in your movie can do any harm... just another way of people making money i guess.

yeah i agree.. infact i think its definitely one of the 'world domination' moves by google that were once the trademark of microsoft..
Google Video hasn't gained much traction, in part due to copyright restrictions and the inability to tap into an active community, such as MySpace, where users are alerted and can comment when videos are posted. YouTube has a 46% share of Internet video viewing, according to measurement firm HitWise. MySpace has 23%; Google Video 11%.
my guess is that youtube is now going for a fast decline unless drastic measures (unlike these) are taken to increase its user base rather than destroy it.
i also think that myspace might take this opportunity to somehow increase its userbase by lucrative marketing schemes to beat off the google youtube competition (that google is killing itself!)!
let's all hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed for a freer internet.. its a pity that one of the leading supporters of 'free internet' and 'open source technologies' is making a wreak of the whole ideology!

Well, if I cannot see any of the videos that I want to see on it, I simply will not use the site anymore. For a while, it was good for seeing a lot of music videos that you never get to see on TV.

I have always argued that some of the clips on You Tube serve as good marketing for the producer to sell his full length product.Indeed one of the people who argued against me is now using google as a marketing ploy.

And what's wrong with taking off infringing videos? A lot of work went into those.... use your original work! There's plenty of great original content on Youtube/GoogleVideo.

Yep. Another one bites the dust. They got away with a lot for a long time, but Google won't.
