It's tough to tell what you mean by "home" (a dorm room, apt., your parents' house? what?). If you go to a large enough college, there SHOULD be quiet places where you can work, like study rooms in the library. My favorite place to study was in the library, in the reference section, facing the wall. My mind was lulled (but not put to sleep) by the sound of whispers, scratching pencils and tapping keyboards, but not distracted by them. Total silence was horrible!
Some people like total silence, so you might try that. My college had those special rooms, like isolation booths. Anyway, I advise trying a few spots and combinations of sounds, sights, etc., before you do something as drastic as medicate yourself! Being distracted is normal...who likes studying??!

If you seem to get distracted working at home or in a university,go somewhere with less distraction such as a library so you'll be able to get more work done and you can do other things later.

Go to the library or someplace else quiet at the U and make a habit of it. There are infinitely more distractions at home.

Go to university. If you are one who has problems concentrating, you should considering asking your doctor for a drug called "Adderall." You should only take it when you truly need it as it can become very addicting and you build up a tolerance for it and eventually you need to be given higher and higher doses.

follow your heart, it knows the road. I am sure there's one thing that weighs more than the other.
