From The Center for the Study of Technology and Society:

"Breed was born in 1927 in Chicago. After graduating from college in 1950, he worked for RCA. He always had an inquisitive mind for mechanics, calling himself a "gadgeteer." When he was 30 years old he started his own engineering company.

Breed was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 1999. He died later that year, on December 13, at the age of 72."
