to big so I'm just wondering if it works both ways.

I don't buy shoes too small. Besides hurting my feet, it can actually cause foot problems.

Unfortunately I end up wearing shoes a half size too big sometimes because I wear a size 4 1/2 and it's hard to find high heels in that size.

some women do. some women wear shoes/ pants that are like a size 6 when they're a size 10... just because they won't wear a size ten. (I used to work retail i know these things) But I used to refuse to sell women shoes where their feet were hangin off... I seriously cannot in good conscience watch women walk around in shoes that are just too damned small!

I wear half a size too big when I buy pointy shoes so my toes don't hurt.

No i wear shoes that fit me perfect plus it will hurt to wear smaller
