I thought what a dumb question.. but your comment.. "does information take away from your power to be happy" perked up my ears.. Happiness, as you know is like a kiss.. You must share it to enjoy it.

If you looked at a beautiful wooded land and you marvel at its beauty.. You would be happy(or find happiness in a way) by going there and having a picnic.. that would be happiness(one form of happiness) but if you had the knowledge that it was full of wood ticks and perhaps had some venomous snakes and a bear or two, you would end your happiness.. thus knowledge of that would cease your happiness for going there or being there

King Solomon said that with more knowledge comes more vexation. He also stated that everything is "vanity and striving after the wind." He couldn't find happiness and he was considered the wisest and richest man of his time. Noam Chomsky has also said that knowledge is power and we should arm ourselves. I would completely agree that ignorance is bliss but at the same time if I was unaware of what I am now, I don't believe I would be as happy. I may not know that I could be happier, nevertheless I feel as if we need knowledge. Knowledge is definitely power, and I believe that the human mind can take that power and use it for happiness. We should never underestimate the power of our minds. Happiness is a state of mind and being. It's all within our grasp.

It depends upon the information! If your information is depressing or alarming, depending upon how you were taught to handle such info, then it could indeed take away at least some of your happiness. However, if the information is positive, yet you are raised to believe you don't deserve happiness, then it will NOT make you happy!. So, IMO, it's a combination of a) the information, b) your learned reaction to it and c) the ability you develop (usually at an older age) to handle this reaction and change it (through therapy, relaxation techniques and various cognitive processes).

Happiness is a state of the mind. The idea of happiness is different in every culture and for every person. Psychologists have found different factors that make people happy. Happy people are satisfied with themselves. They are also optimistic about their problems, and they have good relationships with their, friends family, and other members of society. These are the 3 basic personality factors of happy people. As you can see they have nothing to do with knowledge or information. Information should help us solve all problems. Of course we have to be careful to what kind of info. we are exposed to. The information that we read, watch, etc. is processed in our brain; some of it is stored there and can be recalled for later use. Some other is lost. The one that is kept in our Head becomes part of us, and it influences the way we act, think, and make decisions. As a result we have to be careful with the info that we are storing in our heads, and also give importance to the things/people that are really important to be happy (as our friends and family, and of course, ourselves!)

I can understand that. The more we know the less free we are and therefore the less happy we are.
Example:
You go to college, study, get a degree. Not because of all that knowledge you are crammed with in your head you think that the only job you can get is the one you have your degree in. You are locked in a box and you don't fit other jobs. You don't leave all your possibilites open. Your not happy and you may not get a job that will make your happy.

Does High Tech make you happy, not really. We sometimes are just like puppets not really living life to the fullest.

Peace with yourself. Start by being brutally honest with yourself. Get away from the noise so U can listen to your thoughts. Even though U may not like them. Then reflect and change. Always being improving you for YOU no one else! It may take changing your friends. Making a move.
But what ever it takes. DO IT FOR YOU! ONLY! :)

Happiness is security. If you have a stable job, a lovely wife, and good kids, you have it all. I think that when nothing worries you, ie. money, people, the past, you have a complete life. Also, mental stability is a must. If you can control your actions, thoughts and whatnot, you can truly achieve happiness.

A relatively long-lasting POSITIVE feeling and attitude...You tend not to sit back and be content, but identify and achieve what makes YOU HAPPY!
