You are in a game of Russian Roulette. The gun (a six shooter revolver) has three bullets in sequence in three of the chambers. The barrel is spun only once. The two players then take it in turns to pull the trigger. If they live, the gun is passed to the other player who then pulls the trigger, etc. Would you rather be first or second to shoot?

Please give your reason for your chouce.

Clue: There are 6 possible bullet configurations. Remember the bullets are in consequetive chambers.

By the way, I am not recommending that anyone actually plays russian roulette. That would be silly. This is just a problem about game theory.

I'm bored with this - it confirms my theory about people who spend too much time on this site.

Player 2 is preferable because the 6 possible configurations are:

BBBEEE Player 1 dies
EBBBEE Player 2 dies
EEBBBE Player 1 dies
EEEBBB Player 2 dies
BEEEBB Player 1 dies
BBEEEB Player 1 dies

Simple really!

PS. Apologies for my mispelling of consecutive, above.

It's totally immaterial to me 'cos I wouldn't be daft enough to get into the game in the first place.

If, for whatever reason I was forced into it, but had the choice, then second. By the time I get to my second go, the other guy has already had two goes, which increases the chances of his hitting a loaded chamber.

First, numerically speaking it doesn't matter who goes first, nor does it matter if the first three chambers so any other random sequence of loading is used.

I just don't fancy seeing someone elses head blown off.

You didn't mention if the game ends with the first headblowing incident, or does each player have to have a go. If it stops after hte first shooting then you probably want to go secound ( serial chances are less)

You would rather be first since that is when you have the best odds of survival. If you study gaming theory instead of trying to get others to do your homework you'l see why.
See also the three card trick in which one card is the ace your trying to guess the location of. Your opponent shows you 3 cards face down, one of which is an ace. You guess a card, your opponent then turns over one of the two remaining cards to show you its a losing card. He then says "would yould you like to change your mind about the the card you've picked". If you change your choice EVERY time you will win 66% of the time.

First, because you have a 1 in 6 chance of being lucky. After the odds get less.
