Vernal, Utah and Dinosaurland National Monument in Utah and Colorado.

I live here and can recommend both places. The new Natural History Museum here in Vernal (about 30 minutes from the monument), though small, is stellar- it is very informative and entertaining with great, knowledgable people working there.

The monument has great, great opportunities for seeing active fossil dig sites, and a plethora of information of fossils and finding them.

All in all, a worthwhile trip

The museum. Skeletons of prehistoric creatures are also found buried in many locations worldwide, but you can't normally see them there; they're hidden, and the finds are usually protected by scientific claims. Only at a museum are we able to actually see the skeletons.

In Peru, there's one still halfway in the ground (near the city of Cuzco) that you can go see. A little out of the way for most people, but it's cool if you're there.

Otherwise, natural history museums, or if you're in the US, try the Wyoming Dinosaur Center (lots of dino sites in WY and UT).
