If you search yahoo for the answers, you come up with "auricular" and it has to do with the inner ear. "Auricular acupuncture has been used to treat addictive behaviors with variable success." At another sight, it states auricular therapy "The most common reported uses have been for control of chronic pain, detoxification from addictions, (smoking and heroin and cocaine), relief from nausea, and high blood pressure. " Apparently, it is their belief that "Almost all health conditions can be affected to some degree by stimulated ear points."

Hi there,

Auriculotherapy is a type of treatment where certain points on the ear are stimulated to achieve a given effect.

The first known uses of auriculotherapy occurred in centuries ago in Arab countries where it became know that using a hot needle to stimulate a given point on the ear would relieve Sciatic pain.

Within the past five to ten years, auriculotherapy has been used in studies involving 30 day addiction programs with very promising results. Of course the devices used today are usually an electro stim device that leaves no mark and are minimally uncomfortable.

Hope that helps!

I had it done and I haven't smoked in almost 5 months. I haven't even had a craving for it.The only problem i've had is doing something to keep my hands busy just because of the habit of smoking. I tried the patch and the pill but started eating too much and I can't do that cause I'm diabetic.

It is just sticking pins in your ear. It doesn't work, in fact it doesn't do anything. Your friend did it all themselves using only their own willpower, whether they realise it or not. You don't need any magical pins in your ear to quit smoking. Just get some nicotine patches and some willpower.
