my daughters father signed away his parental rights 15 years ago and has not had contact with either of us since. My dauther has not seen her grandfather in years, but wants to go to his funeral. I feel awkward, but I think I should go and support her. What do I say when we run into him? The funeral is tommorow. Any answers would be helpful.

You don't say anything... Not unless you are talked to, and then make it clear that you are there only to support your daughter.

say what you feel, say what is in your heart. Funeral is for the living not the dead. It's a passing for the living knowing we all will be there some day.

I pity him. I pity him for taking the eazy way out in life. Avoiding responsiblities never know the joy of help raising a child in which he help give life to. As well as what god has offer to his life of which he rejected.

Well, you may need a brief explanation for your attendance. Keep it brief & as polite as possible.
"I'm sorry about your father. I really liked him (if you did)." Something to that effect.
Personally, I wouldn't strike up a conversation with the guy. It sounds like he doesn't care to be part of his daughter's life. I would keep it very polite & very brief.

express your sorry and acknowledge the pain he may feel. Also let him know hisdaughrter is fien and she wanted ot pay her respects to her grandfather.

be adult and do not cause a scene and allow herot show her respects towards her grandfather with the style and grace you hopefully thought her to do.

Hold your head high cuz it sounds like your daughter is a very refined and mature young lady for her age.

Just be civil, say im sorry for your loss, hope all is well then walk away. It is probably for the best.

I guess I would not worry too much about what to say. Give him your most sincere apology and move on. He will just appreciate the thought.

Simply say...

"Sorry for your loss"

and walk away... There is no need to say anything else.

i wouldn't worry about it just tell him that you're sorry for his loss or offer your deepest condolences.
