If all you need is something for a headache, then stick with Tylenol or Motrin.
If you are needing something that helps to relieve congestion, coughing, etc then try the non-drowsy Sudaphed.
Most of those cough/cold medicines are going to make you feel tired or loopy, as the decongestants in them do this.

The secret to get rid of a cold is fight back with everything you got instead of sitting on the couch coughing, "Oh my head hurts, My back aches, my nose is stuffed up and red yes and all that crap".
Let me tell you something how I battle a cold in two days and its gone.
Run five miles every morning, drink lots of water, water water, eat three full meals a day and then after every meal get back out and run again for 2 miles.
BY tomorrow your cold is gone.

Emergen-C - it's a flavored powder you can put in water or juice. Boosts your immune system and will knock out that cold in no time. I swear by the stuff.

Dyquill for when you have it.
