I would like to know what is the best makeup to cover this that would match my skin type. I have tried many brands and none have covered this blotch completely which makes me self-conscious of my looks.

What color are the discolorations? If they are red, use a green concealer underneath a skin-toned concealer. If they are blue, use a yellow underneath and if they are yellow, use a lavender. An excellent brand of concealer is "amazing concealer" which can be purchased online at sephora. Also, try dermablend to cover. It is a powerful concealer that people use to cover scars, etc.

I dont know if you are just putting foundation straight on to your skin. So first and foremost it is very important to allow your moisturiser to be absorbed by the skin before you apply make-up, therefore I would recommend waiting at least 20 mins if not more before you begin applying make-up. This will ensure your make-up doesnt slide off the skin.
Also cream foundations give better coverage than liquids but you can get liquid foundation that provide long lasting hold i.e
L'Oreal INFALLIBLE
It has a high dry pigment content which provides optimum coverage & evens out skin tone perfectly. It has ultra resistent pigments that contribute to form a barrier against perspiration and sebum, which provides excellent foundation hold for up to 16hrs or
Revlon ColourStay Make-up with soft flex

Have you tried a concealer? You will probably need to try a concealer that will not disappear as your glands produce oil throughout the day. Revlon do one "ColourStay" with "softflex" which move with the skin, alternatively any oil free concealer will do. This is probably another reason why your makeup wears off so quickly.
You could also dust your face lightly with some translucent powder as this will help set the make-up.
You may also need to retouch your makeup as well once of twice in the day.
Or try using cosmetic blotting papers specifically designed to asborb excess sebum excreted from the skin.

Hope this helps you

Hi. I'm an esthetician by trade, and I recommend looking into mineral makeup. Not only does it provide good coverage, it's easy to apply and gives total sunblock, which is what you need to prevent the pigmentation from darkening. Also, go to work on your skincare needs. Look for lighteners with either Kojic Acid, or Hydroquinone (do a patch test for sensitivity), or more natural lighteners, like Gigawhite, Biowhite, or Bearberry and Licorice. These will help new spots from forming and help lift the new ones. You may want to get a light peel or microdermabrasion. Consult with a dermatologist, then a local esthetician for treatments. Good luck, I know it's a bummer, I'm on birth control pills and am struggling with light melasma myself, so I know what's going on with you. Take care.
