I for one have yet to see a Hollywood production equal any Asian Horror upon which it is based. I believe our domestic versions are generally pathetic because they overly emphasize teens and youth so as to make the extra dollar. I suppose Sarah Geller is merely our icon of Japan's cash-cow Godzilla. Well at least it's a step up from Allyson Hennigan and 9ugh) Willow.

The only decent Asian remake was "The Magnificent Seven", and even that was a poor substitute. American directors don’t seem to have the sense of style that the originals have. The pacing is generally off, the acting poor, and what the hell was up with the horses in “The Ring”? Unfortunately, these pseudo horror movies have their place: on the shelves of fourteen year olds everywhere.

I think that Hollywood needs some fresh ideas. All these remakes and sequels of bombs are not working. Also, video games made into movies have sucked(save Mortal Kombat). I believe the public needs to get more involved instead of Hollywood turning the golden age of movies into a rusty mess!!

Evidence hollywood is out of ideas and has to get them from other places.
But this is not really new lots of movies are based off other films, plays and books.

i assumed "the ring" develop into way scarier than the "Ringu" sequence from Japan. yet I agree that the remake of "Ju-on" wasn't as good because of the fact the eastern version. American remakes would desire to order the lead rolls to extra effective and extra diverse actors and actresses.
