Before you consider conduction any type of research ethical implications have to be considered. this is for your own and the participants protection. A good place to start with this are the BPS or APA web sites.

You could Use a Likert Scale. A Likert scale is being used when a statement has been presenated usually within a questionnaire and the particicpant is asked to respondent to that statemnet by ticking set answers ranging from: Strongly Agree - Agree - Undecided - Disagree or Strongly Disagree.

However, there are many other types of attitude scale and the scale that is used very much depends on what data you need to obtain.

you can make up your own. When I was an undergrad, I had to do this for a class. Just make sure the scale is reliable and valid. To do, so you will need to run many analyses, get Cronbach's Alpha, do interclass correlations, factor analyses and a couple of more things.

Another thing that helped me in that class was the book "measures of legal attitudes" by wrightsman, batson, and edson. if for nothing else, it can give you an idea of what the scales should look like.
