out. I don't know what to do. I'm planning this big birthday party for her with her best friend, and she knows something is up. What do I do?

Of course you should confess, be a MAN and quit hiding behind a lie. Obviously something with your wife is making you go seek out her best friend. Or something made you go and decide to cross that line. Just tell your wife, whats the big deal. The worst that can happen is that she will divorce you, take all your money, etc... Just be a man about it, tell her. Trust me, you'll feel much better afterwards.

Maybe leave her friend out on her b-day party.
I look at it this way, if you don't confess sooner or later she will find out
which will be more tragic.
if you confess, will she still trust you? Will she leave you? Lots of questions.
You know you wife much better than I do.
Face the consequences and if you really love your life, leave her friend out of the picture for good. Maybe you can confess much later when you've broken ties with the other woman.
You need to go on a deep soul searching. One thing is certain, it's always much better to come out clean.
And if you still need to bang someone else learn the lesson of not doing it in your own backyard again. Much easier to deny later.
Hope you and your wife come out of this still together in each other's arms.

I am not judging you but you should put yourself in her shoes. What would you think if it were your b/f? My marriage of 14yrs was destroyed because of the same thing and you have no idea what have gotten yourself into. Good Luck because you are going to need it.

Even though she was dumb enough to marry a loser at least she is smart enough to know something is up. Hopefully she will kick you to the curb and take you for all she can.
