that was my question. there are no gigs, no live performances in this cd. It's the type of cd you buy in order to play in the comfort of your home, in order to help you wind down and relax. it's a combination of soothing music, and a gentle relaxing human voice to guide you through a calming visualisation.
I heard that sometimes book authors try to sell their books at bookstores, and in order to convince that their book is selling well, make "pseudo" orders i.e.the author makes many orders to give an impression that it is selling well.Is this a good strategy? are there better strategies?

ur CD seems to be good but only for some people so u cant expect too much on that. Instead of makin pseudo orders, why dont u promote ur CD with brochures and u kno, some kind of facts and advantages, convincin customers to buy, in it.

I would not do that, you are just putting money in the store's pocket.

I would go on line, start small. Send samples out to anyone that will give it an honest try, especially if they are respected in a field.

Get as many testimonials as possible, let on line sales at full retail increase. Put any money you make back into advertising, you can do the pay per click thing.

Get links to and from your site with like products, that do not compete, bath beads, lotions, etc. Some of these sites may want to sell your product as well, send them samples. Volunteer to give talks on relaxation, it's benefits etc. Be an expert in the field. (you must REALLY know what you are talking about though)

Grow slowly and steadily, Make sure to use a memorable name or brand to make yours stand out.

The big book stores will NOT build your brand, but after YOU build it, they will sell it then. They will not take a chance on anything unknown. Starting small allows you to perfect your product and your sales message.

Good Luck!

#1 Put the songs into proper format(mp3).
#2 Post the songs on free websites like myspace.com and mp3.com and create a "band" or"artist".
#3 Advertise and tell all of your friends.
#4 If the music is really good you can try other outlets that can charge you to sell your music but you sit back and relax while you get $4-8 dollars per CD they sell for you.
#5 Send out promo copies and singles to a select crowd that you would like to have them sample and critique your music.
#6 There are many record labels too that only add your type of music to their label and they will sign you up and sell you and your music for a big cut of your profitts. The best way is to sell yourself as often as possible or get connected through a major outlet chain that deals with all types of music.
