Ah the age-old salty legume in can question. If you keep the squirrel in your pants she’ll nibble your nuts, take out and you'll get arrested by the neo cons for playing with your squirrel in public. You got quit a dilemma here.
I would take eastern philosophic approach. How is the old saying goes? “Marry turtle and you end up in swamp”. I would say, “marry a squirrel and you get a family full of nuts”.
It’s time you take a 2nd wife.

Squirrels have great sense of smell. keep the nuts in an air tight container and out of sight when not in use. Also if you don't feed 'em in the first place, they will eventually go in search of someone who will give them treats.

Rub a little Cayenne Pepper on your nuts honey. Now for the real answer, put then in an air tight container. They smell them!!!!

I usually keep mine next to a cat- There is nothing like the security of a nice warm puzzy surrounding your nuts to keep them safe.
