There are quite a few people who do not seem to care to even try to spell correctly. Oh yes, this is made even funnier by the fact that when you ask a question, there is a little button at the top that says 'Check Spelling'! Is this laziness, ignorance, or do people really think they look 'cool' by misspelling on purpose?

Oh, forgot to add, if you suffer from anxiety driven anger management adrenalin disorders and feel the need to be cute and/or insulting by typing swear words backwards - I'm sorry for you, and I will be sure to try not to point out your misspellings which might further your 'condition'.

You're right, there is a spell-checker on hand and it would be ideal if people took advantage of it. When spelling is checked, the questions and answers are more easy to understand and more credence is added to the information given. I think many times persons are trying to get there answers in the top few and don't want to go through the 'long', 'monotonous' process of spell checking... Lol :).

When you're typing words, you sometimes have no clue whatsoever you've made an error. You're so engrossed in what you're doing you don't give the possibility much thought. It's after you've really sat down, re-read and spell-checked your information that you recognize your incredibly silly mistakes. I think many people don't realize that they're only human and may need a little extra help despite their supposed intelligence.

Hopefully a few questions like your own will start pushing persons to take better care in the spelling of their words. I've noticed it too on this site and it can get a little nerve-wracking. Perhaps the Yahoo! Answers technical staff can put "Check Spelling" in large exclaimed bold neon red caps so that persons won't forget to check for errors before they post :).

Take care.

What you say may be a factor, and many were perhaps schooled by teachers who think [delusionally... which means they are covering up a non-conscious fear of being "bad"] that to correct a child will give the child a lasting and debilitating traumatic scar.

Some are lazy, and others have a need to seem less than... and every opportunity to prove how inept they are, they take it. Finally, there are those whose levels of anxiety are such that they simply can't "see" the errors in their posting... and do to anxiety of exposing themselves by posting would not be able to take the time to check spelling.

Ha, ha...spell checker did not pick up Piece as not Peace

No, I am not.

Not all humans are so into rules that their mental processes can be bent out of shape by merely misplacing a letter or two.

Until relatively recently, spelling was always a personal choice. And then people who thought that they knew better than everyone else decided to standardize spelling so that everyone should spell words exactly the same. It even became a subject in schools.

Sure, there is a spell check, but it does not always work. Even when it does work, it often does not contain words like "blog" and so it not always helpful.

Humans are different from one another. A person like myself who never could spell well but who can solve quadratic equations in my head may not care if I cannot spell "quadratic."

How about a little tolerance from people like yourself who love spelling difficult words and are constantly digging in a dictionary to make sure that you have each letter in the right position?

What does amaze me is that some people can get so bent out of shape because every other human does not have their interest in spelling words or an education which promoted good spelling.

Yes, especially when there's a spell check. I think a minority may not know English very well and even when they use spell check they're not sure which word is correct. Most of them are just lazy, dumb or drunk or all three.

Too uninteresting for me, if I basically needed a authentic answer sure it quite is a competent concept, besides the indisputable fact that at here it quite is the social interplay that makes it useful putting up with many of the trash that comes alongside now and back.

THANK YOU. It is yet another sign of the deteriorating intellect of our modern society. The general population is made up of idiots who read People magazine, watch reality TV, listen to rap music, and eat at McDonalds.
When our society ceases to value intellectual pursuit, we have started writing our own death certificate.
The only solution is for parents to DISCIPLINE their kids and teach them to value academics.

Not only amazed. Saddened, as well, knowing that parents and teachers ...even the Chief Executive are failing our children by not emphasizing the importance of precision in communication.

I think it can be attributed to all of the things you mentioned and sometimes I think it is just crumby typing.
