See link for more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%27s_One_Child_Policy
The Planned Birth policy is the birth control policy of the government of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It is known in Western society as the One-child Policy due to its enforced limit of one child per couple in urban areas. Though controversial both inside and outside of China due to alleged extreme methods such as forced abortions, and other human rights abuses, China's pandemic overpopulation problem stimulated the government to take strong measures.
Is it fair that my answer was removed for expressing a negative view of this regime?

They said the reason was "Epithets and Slurs" - which I take it means "Disagreeing with something you shouldn't".
All I said was that men in China find it difficult to get a wife as women outnumber men so much due to said one-child poilcy, and that I saw a man on a tv programme who was very sad because he couldn't get a wife, and that I felt sorry for him. What the hell's wrong with saying that??? It true! (I may also have said "stupid regime", but in the context of it being oppressive and sadistic towards families, women, and ultimately, men; so surely this is an acceptable opinion?)

Sailnna -of course this is not what what I want -but neither do I want africans to be enticed into sterilisation with the offer of a free tv set, but this happens too.
I don't claim to have the answer -I wouldn't be so presumtuous, and yes, I realise that there is a much bigger picture which needs to be considered.
I just know in my gut that what is happening is WRONG, but I don't claim to know what's right.
I respect your opinion and I am sorry to have offended you -yet I remain steadfast in my opinion that the one-child policy is not the solution to China's population problems.

like salinna c, i am chinese myself, however i disagree wholly with what she said on this. what yahoo did was unjust and unfair and i fully sympathise with you on this. you were expressing your opinion, and hence it was one i agreed with. i too am ashamed at china's human rights and its one-child policy. for my parents especially, they arrived all the way from the far east in 1981, cue my birth in west london and the other subsequent birth of my younger two brothers and sister which folowed in 1982, 83 and 86.
but back to the subject, it seems as if yahoo! was taken over by the chinese, in addition to google. it was stupid that you got a violation notice, i mean, you weren't being offensive or racist- you were simply making a point and condemning this practice altogether. to yahoo! especially you were expressing a negative point of view, but for me that point of view was valid and correct. you were right to speak out. i'd say don't feel too disheartened about it: at least you had the bottle to do this in the first place- even if it did get removed.
i think its good that you feel so strongly about this issue, as much as i do

I don't know what exactly you wrote that someone found offensive. But no I don't think that information--even if they are worng--should be suppressed. And to those who mentioned something about freedom of speech, that only applies to the government and not private- or publicly-owned businesses. We all know that Yahoo and Google have an agreement with the Chinese regime to censor content offensive to it, but we continue to use these services. If you feel that strongly about this, then discontinue using these services and send an e-mail to their customer serivces telling them that that is why you are leaving. If a mass migration happens, I am sure that people in the business of making money will notice and change something.

i are turning out to be 2. I deserved considered one of them for merchandising a craigslist sale by using Yahoo solutions. the different one replaced into weird and wonderful. a question asked relating to the similarities between England and Mexico. I spoke back that the only component i could think of of replaced into that the U. S. took land from each and every of them in a conflict. as quickly as I have been given the violation observe I spoke back asking what the violation replaced into. They spoke back back that upon overview, the violation stands. I spoke back back asserting I had no concern with the violation, I basically had to appreciate their reasoning. They never spoke back to that. As on your question, your connection with the "primary 'offended black woman' " is probably what have been given you the violation as a racist question. i'm able to quite understand why, nevertheless I ensue to think of that between the main suitable remedies for racism is open communication on the priority and while somebody asks a racist question, the main suitable component of do is furnish a considerate answer, quite delete the question and permit the lack of know-how propagate. Yahoo disagrees.

Yesterday I got a violation for claiming that meringue is difficult to make. It is!!!
I think violations are not really monitored and if someone reports something as a violation it is treated as a violation without any investigation on the matter. Also the Yahoo team do not respond to e-mail queries about violations (well not to mine at least).
I don't think the system here is 100% fair.

Totally not fair. We live in a free society, they do not. We have the ability of the freedom of the press and freedom of speach.
But Yahoo have rules in place for a reason and we must follow them!
But not fair, they should be able to deduct points for that type of question!

Well, you know, Yahoo! is a lapdog for the Chinese government. They turn in dissenters they catch in the Chinese version into the secret police. It was in the news awhile back, remember? Maybe its Yahoo! policy to remove any posts that are critical to the Chinese government, which is repressive. I will be curious to see if I get a violation now.

remember on here we really don't have freedom of speech without we say what others want to hear. I have gotten violation notices before for expressing a fact but since it offended those who fit the bill, it got deleted.

it depends how you expressed your negative view of the subject, if you where quite offensive then that is why you have been reported for abuse, i always try and give a fair argument when answering a question like that so that I can later defend myself if ive been reported, not that it has ever happened.

Life isn't fair. You aren't free. There's no free speech. We all live in a police state. We are suppressed through taxation.
Now. What was it that was bad about China again?

It seems like a perfectly accurate answer to me! I have a feeling that there is someone on Yahoo going round reporting people just for fun - evil beast!
Don't lose heart - you're not alone in receiving dumb violations. Just you keep on answering!!!
