because it's very far away from us... when you walk, you only make a small change in position of yourself from the moon but you can hardly see it because you need to have greater change in position before you can see that the moon is not following you. maybe you can go to the other side of the world to see it...

Because it is very far away so the direction you need to look to see it does not change much, while to see trees near the road you have to look in different directions as you pass them because they are so close.

All motion is relative. Your speed position relative to the moon is minimal but your position relative to a close tree is great.
